The selenium drum is the core of the optical printer. Like the engine of a car, it is mainly made of electro photosensitive semi mannan. Its working principle is the process of “photoelectric conversion”. Photosensitive semiconductor not only has the common characteristics of common semiconductor, such as thermal excitation, change of resistivity after doping, but also has photoconductive characteristics. In other words, after the photosensitive semiconductor is exposed to light, its resistance can drop to one tenth to ten thousandth of its original resistance The selenium drum is used as hardware and consumables in the laser printer, which generally accounts for about half of the price of the whole machine. At present, the commonly used photoconductive materials are selenium arsenic (Se in s) and cadmium sulfide (CdS). Several kinds of organic photoconductive materials are called selenium drums because most of the earlier selenium drums are made of selenium containing materials.
